Across Kenya and Guatemala children are writing letters—not to anyone specific, but to someone.Someone who will believe in them.Someone who will care.Someone who might one day write back.One of those letters comes from Yareydi, a 10-year-old girl in Guatemala.

I first learned about The 410 Bridge in 2008 when I was a young high school student in a rural village called Ngaamba in eastern Kenya. At the time, my community had already begun partnering with 410 Bridge (from 2007 to 2019), but I didn’t fully understand how this partnership started. What I did see was the transformation.New opportunities were emerging, families were thriving, and hope was growing all around me. I was curious, but as a teenager, I simply attributed the changes to the work of God—which I still believe to this day. Deep down, I dreamed of one day joining 410 Bridge and helping bring this kind of change to others. That dream came true in 2016, when I joined the team as a Community Coordinator in Ngaamba.

School is back in session here in the U.S., but at 410 Bridge, the work—and the opportunity to serve—never slows down. Teams are regularly traveling to the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Kenya, stepping into a story that’s been unfolding for years and will continue long after their return home. From the moment a team lands, something begins to shift. Plans are in place, logistics are handled, and our field staff are ready to care for every detail so teams can focus on building relationships and serving alongside the community. As Brent from Grace Family Church shared, “You can trust 410 will take care of everything on the ground—safe, confident, taken care of.”

In the remote villages along the rivers of Nicaragua, life is changing—and not for the better.Recent floods have devastated entire communities, displacing families, destroying food supplies, and washing away crops that were meant to sustain them for months to come. The villages of Makantaka, Makantakita, Company Crick, Dakban, Guadalupe, Kansas City, Betania, Angloamerica, and La Esperanza have been hit especially hard. Over 80 families in each village are now facing an uncertain future.This isn’t the first time we’ve seen flooding in this region—but those on the ground are calling this situation uniquely devastating.Homes are unlivable. Crops are gone. Hunger is growing.

In the heart of Vista Hermosa, Guatemala, something extraordinary is unfolding.Recently, the community of El Mirador gathered with joyful hearts to celebrate the inauguration of the newly renovated Escuela Oficial Rural Mixta El Mirador. But what we’re celebrating goes far beyond new walls or updated facilities—we’re witnessing a transformation that’s physical, spiritual, and deeply communal.

This February, a team of staff members from Guatemala, the United States, and the Dominican Republic gathered for a memorable Trips Summit. Our mission? To prepare the Dominican Republic to host mission teams, grow stronger as a unified team, and brainstorm ways to make each mission trip a truly transformational experience—for both the communities we serve and the teams that visit.

In July, I had the privilege of leading a Kenya Open team, and I’d love to share some of the experiences that left a lasting impact on me. Our team was a diverse group of 12 people from five U.S. states and Toronto, Canada, with five of us being repeat trip participants. It was a wonderful mix of individuals—some with deep knowledge of 410 Bridge and others who were just beginning to learn about our work.

With a wealth of experience in fundraising and a passion for making a difference, John is set to bring fresh energy and innovative ideas to our mission.John Fosdick is a seasoned development professional with extensive experience in cause-marketing and advocating for Christian organizations.

A mission trip is not just a one-week experience to check a box. An intentional mission trip that is outcome-driven provides an opportunity to bring out Philippians 2:2-11 for the restoration of dignity and fulfilling purpose so that people can walk in freedom. A mission trip, The 410 Way, is a catalyst that can propel us into action by changing our perspective of how we view the world, how we view our  world.

As someone deeply involved in the heart and soul of 410 Bridge I’ve had the privilege of witnessing countless mission trips unfold, each one leaving a profound impact on both participants and the communities they serve. But as we strive to continuously improve and enhance the mission experience, we knew there was more we could do to empower our trip advocates.That's why I'm thrilled to share with you our latest endeavor – the launch of our brand-new mission preparation app. Developed with the sole purpose of revolutionizing how we prepare for and experience mission trips, this app has been a labor of love for our team, and I couldn't be more excited to see it in action.
