I first learned about The 410 Bridge in 2008 when I was a young high school student in a rural village called Ngaamba in eastern Kenya. At the time, my community had already begun partnering with 410 Bridge (from 2007 to 2019), but I didn’t fully understand how this partnership started. What I did see was the transformation.New opportunities were emerging, families were thriving, and hope was growing all around me. I was curious, but as a teenager, I simply attributed the changes to the work of God—which I still believe to this day. Deep down, I dreamed of one day joining 410 Bridge and helping bring this kind of change to others. That dream came true in 2016, when I joined the team as a Community Coordinator in Ngaamba.

The school bell rings in Mutirithia, Kenya, but not every child is ready to learn. Many walk long distances, arrive thirsty, and face classrooms without safe water. Illness, missed classes, and exhaustion are daily obstacles that threaten their ability to focus, grow, and thrive.This isn’t just about water—it’s about giving children the opportunity to succeed.

A New Year frequently evokes a multitude of emotions, deeply influenced by various reasons based on the season of life one is at. For many, it symbolizes a rejuvenating fresh start—a precious opportunity to release the burdens of the past and embrace the future brimming with hope. This transition evokes excitement, particularly for school-age children returning to the classroom after a long break from school in November and December here in Kenya. While children are thrilled to reunite with their classmates and dive back into the classroom environment, they may also grapple with a sense of déjà vu; the inevitability of returning to homework, assignments, and the pressure of upcoming exams can cast a shadow over their eagerness for new beginnings.

A mission trip is not just a one-week experience to check a box. An intentional mission trip that is outcome-driven provides an opportunity to bring out Philippians 2:2-11 for the restoration of dignity and fulfilling purpose so that people can walk in freedom. A mission trip, The 410 Way, is a catalyst that can propel us into action by changing our perspective of how we view the world, how we view our  world.

If you haven't yet had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Kenya, allow me to do my best to try to put into words what an incredible life-changing experience that you really need to do at least once in your life. I was recently blessed to travel to Mutirithia, Kenya with an amazing group of 20 other Christian men to serve the families in that community over the course of a week. We prepared for weeks to make sure everyone understood the primary objective of the trip, which was to build upon relationships already formed in the community and to spread the Word to as many people as we could. Allow me to unfold a day-by-day glimpse of what we experienced:

I work with the 410 Bridge under the Education Program as the Sponsorship Coordinator. In the Education Program we work with public schools in all our communities to give access to quality education to all school-age-going children. We worked hard to make sure all the children in the community could regularly attend school, however, we noticed that girls were regularly absent each month.Why Aren't Girls Attending School?

I have just one word, to sum up my experiences and time in Kenya...AMAZING!! This has truly been a phenomenal trip!It started with our very first training session to our goodbyes at the airport when we arrived back home. God had His hands on the team the whole time. There were no incidents, conflicts, or disagreements. We truly enjoyed spending time together and working as a team. It was an honor serving with every one of my teammates, whom I now consider family.
