It’s easy to read statistics about poverty around the world and feel empathy — but until you step into the shoes of someone living on the edge, it’s hard to truly understand. That’s why The 410 Bridge offers a Poverty Simulation: an interactive, role‑playing experience designed to bring the realities of extreme global poverty to life in a powerful, personal way.

The head of the Leadership Council of El Pajal took me to see a local evangelical church that had suffered severe damage during a storm. The building is massive—two stories tall, beautiful in both structure and spirit—but it had endured significant weather damage that left the floors, walls, and electrical systems in need of repair.As I walked through the church, I was in awe. Not only because of the space itself, but because of the story behind its restoration. The Leadership Council shared that the community didn’t wait for outside help. Instead, they came together, raised their own funds, and took ownership of repairing their church. Every marble slab, every repaired wall, and every newly wired light stands as a testimony to their faith, unity, and resilience.

This week, I had the incredible privilege of meeting my sponsored child, Emely Daiany Martínez Domingo, in the community of El Pajal, Guatemala—an experience that words can hardly capture. It was my first ever mission trip, and I came with an open heart, ready to serve, to learn, and to connect. But nothing could have prepared me for the joy, the tears, and the overwhelming sense of gratitude that came from this encounter.I was so nervous and anxious to meet Emely. You could tell she was too—her face showed both surprise and shyness when she saw me for the first time. I, of course, started tearing up as I went to give her a hug, and the genuine smile she gave me warmed every bit of my soul.

In the rural communities of San Antonio Huista and Unión Cantinil, Guatemala, many families live day by day without the tools to plan for the future. Saving is not common—not because people are unwilling, but because they have never been taught how. Dreams of starting a business, improving a home, or investing in a child’s education often remain out of reach. Children, youth, adults, and elders alike face the reality of limited financial stability and few opportunities to imagine a different path forward.

Deep in the mountains of the municipality of Unión Cantinil, Guatemala, in communities like Las Lomas and Villa Linda, more than just classes are being lost. At stake is the dignity of childhood, struggling to learn under conditions no one should accept as normal.Children arrive at school hungry and tired. Parents, though giving their all, often cannot help with homework because they themselves had limited educational opportunities. Overcrowded classrooms, too few teachers, and a system that struggles to respond make learning an uphill battle.

After years of difficult access to water, 288 families now have safe, drinkable water right in their homes—a milestone that is transforming daily life.This achievement was made possible through the dedication of the local community, their deep faith in God, and the invaluable partnership with 410 Bridge. Together, they worked hand in hand to make safe water a reality.

In the village of Villa Linda, Guatemala, clean water has always been more than a convenience—it’s been a daily struggle.For years, families faced the challenge of living without a reliable water source. Drinking, cooking, cleaning, and even growing their own food were constant battles against scarcity. The lack of water limited health, well-being, and opportunities for growth in every household.

High in the mountains of Chipila and Chiuleu, Guatemala, lives Mrs. Vicenta García Hernández—a 73-year-old woman whose life is a testament to strength, faith, and service. A mother of nine, grandmother of 22, and great-grandmother of 10, Vicenta has dedicated every stage of her life to her family, her land, and her community.Before the sun rises, she is already hard at work—preparing coffee, feeding chickens, and tending the fields. But her daily routine extends far beyond domestic and agricultural tasks. Vicenta has long been a spiritual and community pillar, serving in the Catholic Church as a leader of one of the religious brotherhoods and as treasurer of the committee that visits the sick, bringing food and comfort to those in greatest need. Her service is not occasional—it is sustained by deep faith and a commitment to others.

I first learned about The 410 Bridge in 2008 when I was a young high school student in a rural village called Ngaamba in eastern Kenya. At the time, my community had already begun partnering with 410 Bridge (from 2007 to 2019), but I didn’t fully understand how this partnership started. What I did see was the transformation.New opportunities were emerging, families were thriving, and hope was growing all around me. I was curious, but as a teenager, I simply attributed the changes to the work of God—which I still believe to this day. Deep down, I dreamed of one day joining 410 Bridge and helping bring this kind of change to others. That dream came true in 2016, when I joined the team as a Community Coordinator in Ngaamba.

We are excited to announce that our latest field report is now live — a brand-new snapshot of how, together, we are multiplying hope in communities around the world.In this report you’ll find compelling stories and real-life data from our work in places like Guatemala, Kenya, Indonesia and beyond. For example: in the village of Villa Linda, Guatemala, a young boy named Keiver is participating in our “Foundations for Farming” program, caring for a calf and fish and building his savings — proof that hope can grow when given roots.

At 410 Bridge, our goal is simple: empower communities to thrive independently. Ndibai is a remarkable example of this vision in action. As this community prepares to graduate next year, we’re excited to share the incredible progress they’ve made—and how your support has played a part in their journey.Clean, Affordable Water for AllThe water project in Ndibai, completed in 2016, has been a lifeline for the community. With over 128 households—about 80% of the population—now able to access clean and safe water within a 30-minute round trip, the impact is clear.Recently, when rising electricity costs threatened the sustainability of the water project, the Water Management Committee stepped in. Using savings from water sales and mobilizing additional funds from community members, they installed a solar-powered water pumping system with some support from 410 Bridge.

Severe flooding recently swept through remote farming communities along the Rio Grande de Matagalpa in Nicaragua. Torrential rains destroyed crops, killed livestock, and left families facing immediate food shortages and long-term economic hardship.For families who already work tirelessly just to provide the basics, these floods are devastating. Homes and fields that once sustained families now lie in ruin, and the challenge of rebuilding can feel overwhelming.
