About Las Malvinas
Barrio Las Chinas is a densely populated, low-income neighborhood in Hato Mayor del Rey, characterized by informal housing, limited infrastructure, and persistent economic vulnerability. Many families depend on informal employment, resulting in unstable incomes and limited access to social services. Key challenges include youth unemployment and underemployment, school dropout risk, inadequate sanitation and drainage, and limited safe recreational spaces. These conditions increase health risks and contribute to youth exposure to violence, substance abuse, and social exclusion.
