About Batey Jalonga

Batey Jalonga is a rural community located in the section of Guayabo Dulce, in the municipality of Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic. Like many bateyes in the region, the community was originally established around the sugarcane industry and is home primarily to families of Haitian descent, many of whom face ongoing social and economic vulnerability. Economic opportunities are scarce and primarily agricultural. Families often face challenges related to documentation, employment stability, and access to basic services. Despite this, the community values unity and shows openness to long-term development and discipleship efforts.

Every chance we get, we want to empower and lift up people to recognize that God has given them giftings and skills to move their communities forward to a better and more self-sustaining place.

Sponsoring the community, whether for $18, $23, $35, or more a month, allows for this to happen
