Teams are regularly traveling to the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Kenya, stepping into a story that’s been unfolding for years and will continue long after their return home. From the moment a team lands, something begins to shift. Plans are in place, logistics are handled, and our field staff are ready to care for every detail so teams can focus on building relationships and serving alongside the community. In a sea of short-term mission options, it’s easy to get swept up in hype. You pack bags, raise funds, and pray hard—but how often do leaders pause to ask, “Am I really equipped to lead well?”At 410 Bridge, we believe mission trips should be more than impactful—they should be transformative for everyone involved. This February, a team of staff members from Guatemala, the United States, and the Dominican Republic gathered for a memorable Trips Summit. Our mission? To prepare the Dominican Republic to host mission teams, grow stronger as a unified team, and brainstorm ways to make each mission trip a truly transformational experience—for both the communities we serve and the teams that visit.

When most of us think about mission trips, we often picture building houses, painting schools, or distributing food to those in need. While these projects may be important, they only scratch the surface of what mission work can really achieve. At 410 Bridge, we believe the true goal of missions goes beyond physical tasks—it’s about building people and investing in lasting relationships.

In July, I had the privilege of leading a Kenya Open team, and I’d love to share some of the experiences that left a lasting impact on me. Our team was a diverse group of 12 people from five U.S. states and Toronto, Canada, with five of us being repeat trip participants. It was a wonderful mix of individuals—some with deep knowledge of 410 Bridge and others who were just beginning to learn about our work.

The most difficult part of preparing for a mission trip usually isn't learning a new language or adapting to a different culture. The hardest part is fundraising. This doesn't have to be a scary and unpleasant. Here are five ways to put the fun in fundraising.
