New Training, New Skills

In Ulu, a semi-arid community where farming and livestock rearing are often challenged by unpredictable rainfall, residents are finding new ways to thrive. Recently, 61 community members participated in a week-long specialized training program focused on detergent and soap making, pastry baking, and beadwork.

These participants were previous beneficiaries of Business Skills Training (BST) and Foundations for Farming (F4F), building on skills they had already learned.

Empowering Small Enterprises

The goal of this training is simple but powerful: equip community members with the tools to start small enterprises that meet local needs, create jobs, and improve household incomes. In a region with limited farming seasons and economic opportunities, these skills offer alternative livelihoods and the potential for greater economic resilience.

Excitement and Vision from Participants

During the training, participants expressed excitement and gratitude for the opportunity. Many envision starting small community industries that can produce essential products for their neighbors and even beyond, opening doors to sustainable income and long-term growth.
