The community is located 2½ hours south of Nairobi in the Sultan Hamud area of Kenya. Access to the community is limited, as there is only a single road running from the community connecting it to the major road in the area. Comprised of eight churches and only one school, the village has recently been taken on by Compassion International as a child-sponsorship project. The current spiritual center of the community is the African Inland Church (AIC), a five-acre property founded some 30 years ago. The Kiu AIC works to use its resources to minister to the community by meeting their most immediate needs. Not only does their property include a center for weekly worship, but also a medical clinic that serves people from Kiu and neighboring villages.

The people of Kiu are looking for the kind of transformation that will change the spirit in their community. They are looking for healing not only in the medical sense, but the spiritual as well, seeking a sort of “spiritual impartation” for the people of their community. By partnering with the village of Kiu, you will be able to take part in providing the hope of life, both physical and spiritual, to the people of the community, making the village a place where people not only survive, but ultimately thrive.
