Kenya Security Update

Late last night we learned, through a report from the BBC, of an incident at a nightclub in downtown Nairobi. We immediately reached out to our staff in Kenya and they contacted the CID (Criminal Investigation Dept.) to confirm the report.

This morning, an article in the Daily Nation reported that a grenade was lobbed into a nightclub in downtown Nairobi and 14 people were injured. The nightclub is a “low-level” venue and not someplace where Americans or westerners are known to congregate. The CID informed our Country Director that the motive of the attack was not known, but the article in the Daily Nation states that the police linked the attack to recent threats made by the Somali El Shabab insurgents.

We know that many of you are concerned about the safety of the teams on the ground, but none of the 410 Bridge service teams were anywhere near the incident and all are safe. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide regular updates.
