Journey 2012: Meet the Interns!

Journey Internship is a 10-week global discipleship experience in collaboration and partnership with 410 Bridge, Camp Highland and Choose to Invest Inc. Designed for college students who have a passion to live for something bigger than themselves and want to love and serve the people of Kenya in response to Gods relentless love for them.

As we welcome in the New Year, we also want to launch the new movement that God is doing through Journey 2012! God is faithful every year to provide specific vision and purpose for each summer. Within that faithfulness, He also creates the team so uniquely and it is exciting to think that in Gods sovereignty, for all of these interns, God had it planned all along that they would Journey with us!

12 is a special number for us here at Choose to Invest as Romans 12 is one of our cornerstone scriptures. In verse 1, Paul is urging the Romans to “offer their bodies as living sacrifices” and that this is “true and proper worship.” We are expectant of the kingdom glory that God will receive from Journey 2012 by their service. As a team, we will be travelling to multiple 410 Bridge communities to serve in schools, disciple the youth, aid in manual labor projects, and most importantly build relationships with our Kenyan friends.

Our desire is that you would begin praying for this group both individually and collectively as God begins to grow them together as a team. The exciting thing is that we are not finished yet! We are still in the process of interviewing and receiving applications which will be announced in late January.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12.

Learnings From Kiu, Kenya

Our partnership with Kiu community started way back in 2009 making it one of the first communities to partner with the 410 Bridge since its inception in Kenya in 2006.

At the 410 Bridge, we work through the community leaders who ensure continuity of the community’s development even after graduation. During our partnership journey, we walk alongside indigenous community leaders and church leaders as they mobilize and unify the community to participate in their own development – shifting their perspectives and owning the solutions.

Serving with Joy: A Week in Mutirithia, Kenya

If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Kenya, allow me to do my best to try to put into words what an incredible life-changing experience that you really need to do at least once in your life.

I was recently blessed to travel to Mutirithia, Kenya with an amazing group of 20 other Christian men to serve the families in that community over the course of a week.

We prepared for weeks to make sure everyone understood the primary objective of the trip, which was to build upon relationships already formed in the community and to spread the Word to as many people as we could.

Allow me to unfold a day-by-day glimpse of what we experienced:
