Julietta is a single mother of 4 school going children. She is living at her brother’s house on his land. She works at neighbor’s farms for a day’s meal. She and her children are malnourished, living in tattered clothes and in unhealthy conditions at the house. She and her children sleep on the floor which is wet during the rainy season. They use old cans for utensils and to cook in. The cow will be brought up on her brother’s land and will provide a steady income for the whole family from the milk’s sale. The household items, bed and mattress will improve the living conditions within the house.

Wheelchair and Special School for Martin Muiruri Susan

Martin is about 12 years old and suffers from cerebral palsy. He has been going to public school (which is ill suited for him and his condition) on his twin sister’s back. This is becoming too heavy on the sister’s back hence the need for a wheel chair. Martin’s mother is single and cannot afford the wheelchair and the cost of a special school in addition to providing for herself and for Martin’s sister as well. Martin’s sister is also missing out on education because of having to care for her brother. The help will make it easier for both the daughter and the mother and will enable them to afford good care and schooling for Martin.

Dairy Cow for Paul Kamau Mwihaki

Kamau is 3o years old and is disabled. He is also partially blind. He is able to use his hands fully though and uses a wheelchair for mobility. Kamau’s mother owns a piece of land and with the use of his hands and squatting, he plants grass that he sells to farmers. His mother agrees to help Kamau care for the cow and to deliver milk to the buyers for her son’s income. Kamau’s living standards and independence will be improved by this help.

Material for Making Sweaters for Lydia Wanjiku Mithanda

Lydia is a single woman with a deformed leg. She lives alone in a house inherited from her father. She has bought herself a sweater sewing machine but cannot afford the rest of the material to make the sweaters. The area is cold and there are many school going children who would make a good market for the sweaters. Lydia’s skills can also be taught to other ladies who can make this a trade. Depression has set in since Lydia’s income continues to be low even with the investment of the machine. This business would provide an income for Lydia and provide her with a way to teach her trade.

Naomi is an older single women with an amputated leg. She has however been fitted with an artifical leg. She has a piece of land that she cultivates for substinence, but her performance is very limited and her daily chores are hard to carry. Being able to sell milk to nearby creameries would greatly improve her living circumstances. She has no living relatives.
