History
In 1992, this area experienced considerable growth, which was the result of political unrest in some parts of Kenya, leading to members of the Kikuyu tribe being evicted from the area that had been their home for years. This was a slower peaceful eviction unlike neighboring Kwambekenya, and the people had a chance to sell the land they owned and purchase new land in Karima. These people migrated to Karima and purchased land from various owners in the community.
Location
Two and a half hours northeast of Nairobi just outside the Abedare National Park, near the town of Naivasha.
Profile
Bordered by two rivers, Karima closely neighbors our Kwambekenya community, and its name is a Kikuyu name meaning “small hill”.
Mission
• This is one of the newer 410 Bridge Communities and we have great hopes for the partnership with the community of Karima.
