Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,
faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10

Maliarette

Location:

Maliarette is located about 4 hours northeast of Port-au-Prince near the city of Pignon.  It is in the North Department with a population of about 2,000 people.

Description:

The Community of Maliarette is a small agricultural community located within a short walk from the Pignon airstrip.  Community members have watched NGOs do amazing work in the nearby city of Pignon, and long for the opportunity to demonstrate their gifts as a community and willingness to work hard towards development.
Currently, there are no schools located in Maliarette, therefore, 80% of children in the community are not being formally educated.
An estimated 50% of community members are involved on some level with a local church, and pastors have a strong desire to see that number grow through the 410 Bridge partnership.
Like Bohoc, the leadership council in Maliarette has pinpointed access to safe water as their number one priority.  Most community members walk nearly a mile one way to fetch water out of a small seasonal spring. With the help of The 410 Bridge, partner churches and stakeholders, the community hopes to launch a water project in 2012.

410 Community Coordinators:

  • Enaime “Tompy” Jasmin
  • Ronald Formilus
